Bio for Andy Howard for MEDSBIO proposal

Andrew Howard is a core participant and a member of the MEDSBIO advisory panel. He is an associate professor of biology at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago, where he works routinely not only with macromolecular crystallographers but also with fiber diffraction and SAXS experts. He is a consulting crystallographer at Southeast Regional Collaborative Access Team (SER-CAT) at the Advanced Photon Source, Argonne National Laboratory, and was director of the Industrial Macromolecular Crystallographic Association Collaborative Access Team (IMCA-CAT) at the APS from 1996 to 2002. He is author of the earlier XENGEN crystallographic data processing software package and its currently-available descendent, X-GEN. He was elected to the ACA's Data Standards and Computing Committee in 2005 and directs the ACA's annual Summer School in Macromolecular Crystallography.
