Dear Dr. Wynveen,

Illinois Institute of Technology, a Ph.D.-granting university in Chicago, has offered a Masters in Health Physics degree program since 1998. IIT respects the skills and know-how of the health physicists and allied professionals at Argonne National Laboratory. Accordingly, we at IIT now solicit the support and participation of several Argonne employees in teaching and organizing one of our Health Physics courses during summer 2004--namely, Physics 770, "Instrumentation for Health Physics." We also request permission to use certain Argonne resources in offering this course to our students from Monday 21 June 2004 through Friday 25 June 2004. Specifically, we would like to use some teaching and laboratory space in building 360 and neighboring buildings, and some instruments and check-sources that will be employed in classroom demonstrations and laboratory exercises. Use of these resources will pose no strains on the facilities, and there will be no conflict between the use of these resources for the course and Argonne's native needs for them. Furthermore, we expect that this will not be a one-time request: we plan to offer this course in summer 2005 under a similar arrangement, and we hope to do so in later years as well.

The Argonne employees directly involved in the course are George Mosho, Alan Justus, and Rao Veluri. We look forward to their participation in this course.

Please let me know if these arrangements are acceptable.

Sincerely,

Andrew J Howard
