As you may remember, at its March meeting, the UniFC approved two changes to the degree programs in the Lewis Department of Humanities:
These two proposed changes were approved by acclamation at the 9 March meeting of the University Faculty Council. They were therefore subject to the now-normal procedure under which we were to distribute the proposed changes to the faculty as a whole and invite comment and / or requests for consideration by the full faculty for a 30-day period. If fewer than ten faculty members requested that these changes be reviewed by the full faculty during that 30-day period, then the changes would be forwarded to the President's office.
At the meeting we agreed that I would send out the announcement and accompanying documentation for these changes after spring break, so that there would be no ambiguity about whether the days of spring break would count as part of the 30-day period. Unfortunately, I never in fact released these documents: I got involved in other things after the break, and neglected this set of emails. Accordingly, we are only now in the process of sending out these emails.
The Council will have to decide how to proceed with rectifying this problem. I apologize for having been the source of the problem, and I pledge to follow through rapidly with what the Council decides to do.
Respectfully and regretfully submitted,
Andy Howard, UniFC Secretary
