- Matt Bauer:

teaching in graduate programs in technical communications.
Publications mark him as a rising researcher in applied linguistics;
represents graduate programs in Humanities.
- John Bilson:
Professor of Finance, Academic Director, Dept. of Undergraduate Business.
First appointed at IIT in 1995;
innovative teacher, very interested in student affairs.
- Eric Brey:
Asst.Prof. in Cell & Tissue Engineering division of BME;
Research in angiogenesis tissue engineering,
endothelial cell-tumor interactions.
- Susan Conger-Austin:
Assistant Prof. of Architecture and Director
of Professional Masters programs in College.
At IIT since 1993;
has established her own design firm and has experience in
educational, commercial, and civic projects.
- Michael Davis:
Professor in Humanities and holds an appointment in CSEP.
National reputation in applied ethics,
a much repeated component of the IIT mission.
- Dirk Denison:
Studio Assoc.Prof. in Architecture; has campus planning involvement,
administrative experience,
has participated in several dean searches at IIT,
extensive community/civic involvement
- Howard Eglit:
Professor, Kent; on IIT faculty since 1977;
served on University Faculty Council for several
years and was chair for 2 terms;
co-chaired Faculty Handbook revision committee.
Experience working with non-law school faculty and University administrators
provides understanding of University's overall needs and insight into and
appreciation for the perspectives of downtown and main campus faculties.
- Mahjoub Elnimeiri:
Professor of Architecture and director of PhD program.
Has research interests, involved as
engineer in the integration of architecture and engineering.
- Ali Emadi:
Professor of Electrical Engineering.
Brings commitment and achievement in research, graduate education,
undergraduate education, and IPRO program. Provides balanced perspective
on the needs of the college and University.
Directs Power Center and Grainger Labs—two foci of activity
in the Energy & Sustainability Institute.
- Ophir Frieder:
Professor of Computer Science.
A well-known academician who also knows well the functioning of
IIT. He would represent the CS Department and the University well.
- Douglas Godfrey:
Category II Associate Prof. of Legal Research at Kent.
On faculty since 1997;
provides an understanding of the needs of
the Downtown Campus faculty and non-tenured faculty.
Practiced law for 21 years prior to joining Kent faculty.
- Joel Goldhar:
Professor, Stuart School.
At IIT since 1982; Dean of Stuart School from 1982-88; innovative teacher.
- Joyce Hopkins
Associate Professor, Institute of Psychology;
research specializations in attachment, infant psychology.
Member of University Faculty Council.
- Patrick Ireland:
Professor of Political Science and Chair of Social Science Dept.
(Ph.D. Harvard, 1990). Joined IIT in August 2007 from American University
in Beirut. Experience in a variety of other university and has insights
as a relative newcomer to the IIT community.
- Ishaque Khan:
Assoc.Dean of CSL and Professor of Chemistry;
handles many tasks related to student and faculty needs in CSL.
- Nasrin Khalili:
Associate Professor, Environmental Management within Stuart School.
Productive researcher, very interested in student affairs.
- Judith Lederman
Senior Lecturer, MSED. One of the original members of MSED;
was integral in developing the program.
Worked extensively with provost while achieving university and state
approval for MSED program. Has an understanding of aspects of the Provost
position that would be beneficial for search committee.
- David Mogul:
Associate Prof. in Neural Engineering division of BME.
Research in brain electrophysiology, epilepsy, cellular & network behavior.
- David Pistrui:
Coleman Chair of Entrepreneurship, Industry Assoc. Prof. in Stuart School.
Very well connected with industry.
- Dietmar Rempfer:
Assoc.Prof., MMAE.
Conducts research in fluid dynamics;
is active in new teaching and research initiatives.
- Jafar Saniie:
Prof.,ECE; at IIT since 1983.
Led Computer Engineering program during period of exceptional growth;
serves as ECE graduate program director: there are 616 graduate students
enrolled in study in ECE. Provides deep perspective.
- Keiichi Sato:
Prof. and co-coordinator of ID's Ph.D. program; at IIT since 1982.
Performs research in several areas and has extensive teaching experience.
Very familiar with IIT's academic and administrative functions and
would represent the interests of the entire University.
- Warren Schmaus:
Professor of Humanities, specializing in history and philosophy
of science. His books have brought him a significant national
reputation; he holds office in national associations.
Has run successful faculty searches within Humanities.
- Kenneth Schug:
Professor of Chemistry; at IIT since 1956.
Has the time and interest to serve on either committee.
Would bring extensive experience to the search.
- Carlo Segre:
Professor of Physics, Associate Dean in Graduate College;
materials scientist,
Deputy Director of large research facility at Argonne lab.
Has extensive organizational experience at every level at IIT.
- Jonathan Shi:
Professor of Civil Engineering; CAEE faculty since 1999.
expertise in Enterprise Resource Planning.
Extensive academic experience in Hong Kong; PI for many funded projects.
- Mary Rose Strubbe:
Category II Professor of Legal Writing, Kent;
Director of Legal Research & Writing Program,
Asst.Dir. of Institute for Law & the Workplace.
yHas been on faculty since 1992.
As a skills teacher she will bring a different perspective to committee.
Has studied and attended conferences on future and best practices
in education, both nationally and internationally.
Responsible for hiring 35-40 adjunct faculty who teach in
upper-level research and writing program.
- Philip Troyk:
Associate Professor, Neural Engineering division of BME;
expertise in neural prostheses, implant design, computational neuroscience.
Chair of University Faculty Council;
member of Presidential search committee, 2006-07;
member of previous Provost search committee.
- David Venerus:
H.S.R. Cho Professor of ChBE;
on IIT faculty since 1989. Associate chair, 2003-07;
Director of Center of Excellence in Polymer Science and Engineering
(1999-03, 07-).
Research in transport phenomena in complex materials;
has authored over 50 papers and one patent, and is recipient of
departmental and college teaching awards.
- Christopher White:
Associate Professor of Physics;
experimental particle physicist,
involved in hyperon decay and neutrino projects.
Active in IIT-Fermilab and IIT-UC Berkeley collaborations.
Received Excellence in Teaching award in the second year of eligibility.
Vice-chair of Faculty Council;
member of Presidential search committee, 2006-07.
- David Williams
Professor, MMAE,
director of Fluid Dynamics Research Center; leads effort to structure
an improved Aerospace program. Has led faculty reviews and searches.
- Thomas Wong:
Professor, ECE;
Former department chair and former chair of University Faculty Council.
He thus brings to the committee experience and exposure reaching
across campuses. Perspective derived from more than 25 years at IIT.
Student Nominees
- Adam Bain:
Executive VP of SGA and therefore provides important student perspective.
Coursework spans Armour and CSL so his perspective in reviewing candidates
is broad.
- Jennifer Miller
4th-year undergraduate, biology. VP of Student Life for SGA and can therefore
provide a perspective on student needs for provost.
Has served on IPRO Advisory Board and other University Committees.
Proactive, trustworthy, committed.
- David Ofori-Amoh:
second-year grad student in ID's 3-year MDes program.
2003 BS in mechanical engineering from IIT; Senior Resident Advisor;
knowledgeable about IIT both as undergraduate and grad student.
- Yuzhi Wang:
Highly involved student who attends many student functions;
has high GPA and is in her second year. Will graduate in spring 2008.
- Sanj Wirasingha:
Has been at IIT since 2001 as an undergraduate, master's and Ph.D student.
Leader of ACE Formula Hybrid team of 100+ IIT students. Has been a TA, RA,
and EnPRO co-instructor; research achievements include Grand Prize for MS
research in ECE. Has served as President of IIT Entrepreneurial Association,
Treasurer of Residence Halls Association, a Kaplan Fellow and a Senior
Resident Advisor
