Homework: Homework assignments will be made every class period with few exceptions. All homework assignments will be collected except as announced. Homework will be due at the beginning of the following class period prior to the beginning of the lecture unless otherwise stated. No late homework assignments will be accepted unless prior arrangements are made.
Quizzes: Quizzes will be given at the beginning of each Recitation section (every other week) and occasionally during Lecture. The purpose of the quizzes are to assess the class' understanding of the topic and to prepare you for the types of problems which will be on the examinations. The quizzes may be on any previously covered material.
Laboratory: In order for students to pass the course they must pass the Laboratory part of the course. This consists of handing in all 6 Laboratory Reports and achieving a grade of 50% on all reports and pre-laboartory quizzes. The Laboratory is an integral portion of the course. Some material will be covered only in the laboratory and may appear on Examinations. Please take this seriously.
Examinations: There will be three examinations: two midterms and one final examination. These will be closed-book, closed-notes, no-calculator examinations.
Grading: The percentage weighting for each component are shown below. The final letter grades will be awarded on a scale as shown below. This scale may vary up or down slightly, depending on the difficulty of the examinations and quizzes.
