Welcome to the home-page of the Human Biology course, Biology 115, in the Biological, Chemical, and Physical Sciences Department at IIT. All course assignments, class notes, and other relevant materials will be available from this page, so check it frequently for updates.

Course text: Sylvia S. Mader, Human Biology, 6th Edition (1999: McGraw-Hill) and accompanying CD-ROM.

Grading plan:

Thus there are 140 points possible in the course.

There will be an opportunity for each of you to participate in a group oral presentation. Each presentation will involve four presenters and will last twenty minutes, and must be on a topic of relevance to the course. Your grade for the oral will substitute for your second-lowest quiz score if it is better than the quiz score, so you can't lose. A sign-up sheet will be available beginning soon The presentations will be made during class time either to the entire class or to a sub-group.

Examination dates:
 Date type of evaluation time
 1 February 2000 quiz 25 minutes
15 February 2000 quiz 25 minutes
29 February 2000 quiz 25 minutes
21 March 2000 midterm 75 minutes
4 April 2000 quiz 25 minutes
18 April 2000 quiz 25 minutes
2 May 2000 quiz 25 minutes
7-13 May 2000 final 120 minutes

Each quiz will be given at the beginning of the designated class period. One problem on every quiz will be derived directly from the homework problems in Mader, so it would be a good idea to work on the homework even though I do not require you to turn it in.
